The Stories in the Blood

Alchemy of Healing the Racialized Trauma Body

A deeply personal and collective exploration of ancestral trauma, grief, memory and healing. What is ancestral trauma? Where does it live? How do we honour what has been carried while creating space for renewal? Water — within our bodies and flowing through rivers and oceans — emerges as a living metaphor for memory, revealing that our deepest wounds and greatest gifts are often carried in the same current.

Drawing on her work as a trauma-focused psychotherapist and Doctor of Classical Chinese Medicine, and on travels across Africa in conversation with healers, artists and wisdom keepers, the book blends Daoist alchemical healing, Indigenous wisdom and contemporary trauma understanding — inviting readers to see healing not as forgetting the past, but as remembering differently.
